Irish country music icon Declan Nerney has been inducted into the Irish Country Music Hall of Fame, cementing his status as a beloved national treasure. The honour was bestowed during the Late Late Country Music Special, where Nerney received his award to the delight of fans and fellow artists alike.
Over more than four decades, Nerney has crafted a catalogue brimming with signature songs that resonate across generations—"Stop the World (and Let Me Off)", "Anna from Fermanagh", "Three Way Love Affair", and others—all co-written with collaborator Henry McMahon.
A dedicated performer and storyteller, Nerney has remained ever-present in the Irish country music scene. He often returns to headline historic venues and festivals—such as the “Marquee in Drumlish,” which he celebrates as “one of the top ten events in Ireland.”
