Austin McQuinn - 'Meteora' Print

This print commissioned by The Source Arts Centre emerges from a new body of work which was developed for a solo exhibition ‘Hypercarbon’ at The Source in 2020. In this show he explored the fundamentals of mark-making and materiality through carbon-based inks, canvas, bog oak and quartz.
Austin McQuinn is an award winning visual artist and performance expert, living and working in South Tipperary. He has had several solo exhibitions at Butler Gallery, Project Dublin and David Cunningham Projects San Francisco.
‘Meteora’ is an image made in response to the geological and spiritual phenomenon of a region in central Greece, where Austin perceived the rock formations and monasteries becoming welded together through techtonic, ecclesiastic and artistic forces. This is his first print with Parallel Editions.
