Dir. Hirokazu Kore-eda, Japan, 2018, 120 Min
Osamu and his wife Nobuyo are a Japanese couple stuck with menial part-time jobs and inadequate income. They make ends meet through the fruits of shoplifting. And they are not alone in this behaviour. The younger and the older children of the household are also in on the act. But their unusual routine is about to change from care-free to something more dramatic, when the couple open their doors to a beleaguered teenager, putting them and their activities under a microscope.
