Dir. Jane Magnusson, Sweden, 2018, 116 Min
1957 was a pivotal year for acclaimed Swedish film director Ingmar Bergman. He released two of his most acclaimed features (‘The Seventh Seal’ and ‘Wild Strawberries’), made a TV film and directed four plays for theatre. At the same time, the 39-year-old Bergman was carrying on relationships with four women, one of whom was actress Bibi Andersson and one of whom was his wife. Magnusson has amassed a wealth of archive and contemporary interviews, along with a fantastic selection of clips from his vast body of work in a revealing analytical portrait of a master film-maker.
