Pray for us Sinners

by Paul Maher

Joey's parents, Nancy and Tommy Ryan, grew up in a world where women prayed for purity and men prayed for the conversion of Russia. Joey however lives in a different world.  It is Ireland 1986 - the statues are moving and the Legion of Mary is coming under pressure as abortion, divorce, condoms and sex are set to invade Catholic Ireland.

At home in Tipperary Joey can’t be sure if he has killed his father.  A fallen woman and a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary have come to stay.  While his sister has notions of having an immaculate conception, his poor mother is just trying to get the rosary said.
