Conceived by Cristian Mungiu, Tales for the Golden Age is a uniquely affectionate portrait of Romania's communist regime with the directorial duties split between five different first-time feature directors. The film concerns itself with the politics of Ceausescu and offers a knowing and often celebratory look at the sheer resourcefulness of the average Romanian during the dark days of the dictator's regime.

Each director showcases his own style, all part of the highly regarded 'Romanian New Wave' of filmmaking.
