Written by Brandon Thomas.
Charley has never met his very wealthy aunt, Donna Lucia, who is about to visit from Brazil “where the nuts come from”. He and his friend Jack are undergraduates in Oxford and are in love with Amy and Kitty, respectively. To impress the girls, the boys plan a lunch. Donna Lucia will attend. When a telegram arrives to inform that Charley’s aunt will not arrive for a few days, the friends force another student, Lord Fancourt Babberley, to impersonate the absent aunt. There are reasons for a couple of older gentlemen to woo the visiting celebrity; when the real aunt does arrive she is accompanied by her adopted niece which further complicates the story. Charley’s Aunt is, of course, an old fashioned farce that has entertained for decades and should not be missed.
