Fishamble : The New Play Company and The Source Arts Centre Mentoring Scheme 2014/2016
The Fishamble: The New Play Company and the Source Arts Centre Mentoring Scheme is supported by the Arts Council. The scheme has mentored directors, playwrights and theatre makers in the region, through a series of workshops and meetings throughout 2014, 2015 and into 2016 (writers only), facilitated by Gavin Kostick and Jim Culleton. The participants have shared some of their work-in-progress during informal evenings in 2014 and 2015 where rehearsed readings and performance took place. The Source looks to develop this programme in 2016 with more substantial performances of work in its Autumn/Winter Programme.
Dance Artist in Residence in 2012/2013
The Source was awarded funding for a Dance Artist in Residence in 2012/2013 and Sowing the Seeds of Dance was born. Cathy O’Kennedy began a Community Dance Project in North Tipperary in September 2012. Cathy worked with the general public, national and secondary schools and special needs groups over a 9 month period. Over 300 people took part in workshops both in the arts centre and in their own communities and schools. Over 500 friends, family and general public saw their work in 3 public dance sharings on The Source Arts Centre stage on Cutlure Night September 2012 and in March and May 2013. The project was a huge success. Cathy is a highly experienced dancer, choreographer and teacher who has worked with all sorts of community groups over the years and has particular expertise in working with dancers with special needs.
This project was kindly supported The Arts Council, Tipperary Arts Office and North Tipperary Sports Partnership. Thanks to the schools, community groups and individuals young and old who supported the project.
